Dr. Steve

Steve was born in Littlefield, TX. in 1958.  He grew up in the Lubbock, Lazbuddie, Earth,  TX area with a farm & ranch background.  He attended Monterey High School  with a primary focus on calf roping and bull riding, not academics in the Tri State High School Rodeo Association.  He graduated from Monterey in 1976 and then soon began college at West Texas University at Canyon, TX.  Life experiences really began for Steve in about October 1976.  A late night phone call from an uncle that was considered a second dad came.  He had been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer and needed Steve to finish out the farming year him.  The next day Steve withdrew from WT and moved to the Lazbuddie area.  Soon Steve was farming on his own at the age of 18.  In 1977 Steve was married to Cindy.  Steve and Cindy continued to farm until 1979.

In 1980 Steve joined the Lubbock Police Department.  During his rewarding 12 year career he was assigned to uniform patrol and Special Services, including the Tach Unit and narcotics units, as well as the SWAT Team. Throughout the years Steve attended South Plains College, Wayland Baptist University, and Texas Tech University for undergraduate studies.

In 1992, even though Steve loved the Lubbock Police Department, a hard decision was made.  Steve was going back to his original plans, vet school.  After being accepted to Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine, Steve and Cindy embarked with their two kids, Chelsey and Seth on the adventure.  Vet school began in 1993.  Graduation was a long four years later in 1997.

Steve's veterinary career began in 1997 at Burleson Equine Hospital in Burleson, TX. with one of his mentors Dr. Putnam.  Soon as a shareholding partner the future looked great at BEH.

In the year 2000 another curve ball came.  Steve's mother was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor.  Steve's dad was also having heart related health problems.  Distance made it very hard to be in Lubbock when needed so another big decision was made.   Leave Burleson and BEH and move back to Lubbock to help take care of mother and dad.

In 2000 Steve drove into Lubbock without a job or a client.  He started a mobile veterinary which over the next year evolved into a good business.  In 2001 Steve opened a brick and mortar veterinary clinic in Wolfforth, TX. which has come to be known as Frenship Veterinary Clinic.

Dr. Steve is also a certified firefighter and EMT and is very passionate about the fire, ems, and police services.  He is a very active member of  the Wolfforth Fire and EMS Department as well as other civic organizations.
