Dr. Steve Stephens- Veterinarian
Dr. Steve Stephens- Veterinarian
Dr. Steve was born in Littlefield and grew up in Lubbock, Lazbuddie & Earth areas with a farm & ranch background. He graduated from Monterey High school where his primary focus was not academics, but calf roping & bull riding. He attended West Texas University in Canyon upon graduation, but life intervened his plans of becoming a veterinarian then. A late night phone call from his uncle that was like a second dad came and told Dr. Steve that his uncle had been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer and her needed Dr. Steve to finish out the farming year for him. The next day Dr. Steve withdrew from WT and moved to Lazbuddie and was doon farming on his own, at the age of 18. Dr. Steve married Cindy and together they continued farming for a couple of years.
In 1980, Dr. Steve joined the Lubbock Police Department. During his rewarding 12 year career he was assigned to uniform patrol and Special services, including the Tach Unit and narcotic units, as well as the SWAT team. Throughout the years he attended South Plains, Wayland Baptist and Texas Tech for undergraduate studies.
In 1992, even though Dr. Steve loved the Police Department, a hard decision was made. He was going back to his original plans, vet school. After being accepted to the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine, Steve & Cindy embarked on an adventure in College Station, along with their two kids, Chelsey & Seth. Vet school began in 1993 and 4 long years later he finished school.
Dr. Steve started his vet career in Burleson, but life happened again in 2000 when Dr. Steve’s mother was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor. Distance made it hard to work and spend time with his mother, so once again Steve & Cindy moved and took the kids with them. But this time they were moving back home!
Dr. Steve started a mobile practice and then opened a brick & mortar in Wolfforth known today as Frenship Vet Clinic today.
Dr. Steve enjoys fishing, cooking outdoors, but top of the list is spending time with his grandkids- Cade, Corbin, Karolyne, Kopeleigh, and Kelbie.

High school students
FVC currently has 3 high school students that help us around the clinic. Most of the time, these students are FFA or 4-H kids and are interested in becoming veterinarians. They are responsible for keeping our clinic so clean and they also get to help with patients when needed. We are very fortunate to have students help us at the clinic.
